Strong Foundations & Governance

Impact100 Whakatipu operates under the umbrella of 45South Community Foundation, who provide guidance, financial oversight, and trustee support in line with New Zealand Charities requirements.

This partnership ensures:

  • Clear governance and accountability

  • Professional financial management

  • Compliance with charitable best practice

  • Confidence that funds are managed responsibly 

45South funds are professionally managed by JB Were and Forsyth Barr, and are audited annually as part of the 45South audit process.

Our Board

Impact100 Whakatipu is led by a Board made up of women with complementary skills across philanthropy, law, finance, communications, and community leadership.Together, they ensure the organisation remains sustainable, transparent, and focused on meaningful outcomes for both members and the wider Whakatipu community.

Clare Irons

CHAIRPERSON

Clare brings extensive experience in philanthropy, grant management, and nonprofit relationships, gained through many years working in the sector in the UK and New Zealand. Locally, she has served on the boards of Baskets of Blessing and Arrowtown Preschool. Clare is Head of Corporate Philanthropy at 45South Community Foundation, leads the BforGood Corporate Giving Programme, and is a co-host of the Mountain Club podcast.

Tess Wethey

GRANTS COMMITTEE CHAIR

After a career in education, Tess retrained as a lawyer and spent 21 years as a Partner at Mitchell Mackersy Lawyers. She has deep governance and mentoring experience and now works in consultancy with Duncan Cotterill. Tess has been an Impact100 member since 2020 and brings a strong lens of fairness, rigour, and community responsibility to the grants process.

Joan Kiernan

With over 20 years’ experience in management, accounting, and banking in the UK and Hong Kong, Joan has been deeply involved in both commercial and nonprofit governance since moving to Queenstown in 2001. She brings significant granting experience from her eight years on the Board of Community Trust South and has held numerous leadership roles in Rotary. Joan previously chaired the Impact100 Grants Committee for four years.

Euni Borrie

SUPPORTERS & COMMUNICATIONS CHAIR

A founding supporter of Impact100 Whakatipu, Euni brings a strong background in sales, marketing, and communications from multinational organisations. Through her roles across the Grants and Events Committees, and her work as Grants and Scholarships Manager at 45South Community Foundation, Euni has a deep understanding of both local charities and the Impact100 process.

Juliana Fullerton-Smith

CO-CHAIR COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

Juliana joined Impact100 in 2022 and brings a strong background in marketing and communications, including roles at TVNZ, The Daily Mail, and Fortnum & Mason. Based in Queenstown, she is part of the Mountain Club leadership team, Co-Chair of St Joseph’s School PTA, and a busy mum - bringing a grounded, community-first perspective to the committee.

Yoko Kakuma 

TREASURER

Yoko is passionate about working with purpose-driven organisations and creating meaningful, lasting impact in the community
A Chartered Accountant by background, she brings extensive management experience across the investment banking, retail, and service sectors in Canada, Japan, and NZ.   
Since joining Impact100 in 2021, Yoko has been actively involved on both the Events Committee and the Grants Committee. She is motivated by connection, collaboration, and a strong belief in women coming together to make a difference in the community.

Katherine Schuitemaker

Serving on the Grants then Governance Committees since 2022, Katherine brings to Impact100 over 30 years’ experience in non-profit and for-profit board roles as well as strategic work with both small, scrappy start-ups and global organisations including Microsoft, HP, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Katherine was a founding board member and chair at IslandWood, a residential children’s outdoor school that now serves 10,000 students and teachers each year. She moved to NZ in 2017 to plan and launch the Headwaters Eco Lodge and Mrs Woolly’s General Store, where all profits are donated to benefit the Glenorchy Community Trust.

Gladys Henderson

CULTURAL ADVISOR

Ko Gladys Henderson ahau (Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāti

Whakaue, Te Arawa). I have called Queenstown home for over 30 years and have been privileged to contribute to the community through local committee work and

collaborative initiatives. As Kaitohutohu Ahurea (Cultural Advisor) to the Impact 100 board, I support cultural understanding, inclusion, and meaningful connection across our diverse community. I am a Mātauranga Māori socioeconomic specialist whose mahi strengthens community wellbeing by bringing mātauranga Māori into conversation with governance, policy, and economic systems so that decisions reflect shared values, collective responsibility, and care for future generations.
